New Year, New Hopes
The Covid-19 disease and pandemic have been a significant challenge for the entire world. Although there are promising vaccine developments, the pandemic has not completely subsided. Our greatest hope for the new year is to leave this disease and all its associated negativities behind and take a deep breath of relief. Before the new year, the Ministry of Health implemented a series of measures to control the disease. The most important part of these measures will be the time we spend at home. During this time, we will spend more moments alone with ourselves, examining our skin, face, and body more closely. For this reason, I would like to share a few tips about skincare and body health with you.
The long hours spent at home sometimes involve online education or chatting with friends remotely. In these moments, we often find ourselves observing our reflection in a corner of the screen. We start to notice our forehead wrinkles or the crow's feet around our eyes. Since the nose is the most prominent feature of the midface, it may begin to appear larger. Sometimes we also realize volume losses in areas such as temples, nasal wings, lips, and cheekbones. Don't worry—plastic surgeons are still at work. Whether now or when you feel safer, we can address these concerns with non-surgical procedures such as Botox, fillers, or fat injections. Just focus on preserving your health.
One of the most critical factors for skincare is NUTRITION. Whatever foods we consume, our skin absorbs and reflects them. Eating foods high in fat, chemical content, or salt can disrupt the oil balance of the skin and lead to acne formation. For this reason, avoid junk food while spending time at home. Even if we don't go outside, it's essential to cleanse and moisturize our skin. I'd like to tell you about the effects of pomegranate seeds on the skin and then suggest making a homemade pomegranate mask. Pomegranate seeds increase collagen synthesis in the skin, making it appear firmer, brighter, and more vibrant. Take a pomegranate, separate its seeds, blend them, and apply them to your face. Leave it on for 15 minutes. You can apply this mask every two weeks. If this seems like too much effort, you can opt for cosmetic products containing pomegranate.
Proper nutrition also helps us maintain weight control. Have you heard of the yo-yo diet concept? It refers to a cyclic pattern of gaining and losing weight. Even if you lose weight in this cycle, it can harm your skin health, causing sagging and stretch marks. Therefore, don't fall into the “I'll eat comfortably now and lose weight in spring” mindset. Stick to your diet and don't neglect exercise. Add sports activities to your online routine. There are many free and paid apps and videos for doing yoga, fitness, or pilates at home. Make good use of these times of restricted outdoor activities.
Wishing that the new year brings health, happiness, and peace to all of us...
