Thigh Lift

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift involves the removal of sagging skin and excess fat from the inner thighs to achieve a more contoured and aesthetically pleasing appearance. When excess fat and loose skin on the inner thighs cannot be resolved through exercise or weight loss, surgical intervention can provide a more youthful and aesthetic look. The incisions for a thigh lift are placed along the upper inner thigh crease and remain hidden within the bikini line. If there is fat accumulation along the outer edges of the thighs, liposuction may be combined with the procedure to achieve the ideal thigh contour.

When should you consider a thigh lift?

If you have lost significant weight after bariatric surgery, your body mass index (BMI) should drop below 25 before undergoing the procedure. Additionally, you should maintain a stable weight for at least 6 months before considering a thigh lift.

A thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia. Smoking should be stopped at least 4 weeks before the surgery. Additionally, you should avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, and herbal supplements before the procedure.

When should you start moving after the surgery?

You will be encouraged to get up and move about 4 hours after the surgery.

How are drains and dressings managed after the surgery?

Subcutaneous drains are typically removed the day after surgery. The incision lines will remain covered with dressings until the wound heals. If liposuction is performed as part of the procedure, you will need to wear a compression garment for 6 weeks.

Do the stitches need to be removed after the surgery?

The stitches used during this procedure typically do not need to be removed.

What are the possible complications of the surgery?

As with any surgery, thigh lift procedures carry risks such as delayed wound healing and fat necrosis. However, the most concerning complication is pulmonary embolism. To minimize this risk, early movement is encouraged after the surgery. If you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or an abnormal heartbeat after discharge, contact your doctor immediately.
